A solid bodice with a straight cut, closed by a zip with an elegant buckle that quietly modernises the whole thing. The skirt stays understated, with finely offset braid at the hem, and the plain apron slots in without asking for attention.

THE TRENTINI BUILD
Stabilising boning at the centre front holds the shape. Generous seam allowances at the sides, centre and waist mean it can be altered and re-altered — built to last years, not a season. Double-stitched seams, ruffles worked by hand.
Fit note: a dirndl should sit skin-tight. Blouse and accessories not included.
