The Agatha velvet dirndl is a traditional dress that loses none of its excitement to a modern touch. Everything here turns on the unmistakable contrast between bodice and the skirt-plus-apron. The classic cut goes without any scrollwork at all, which gives it something modern and refined at once. The bodice carries no pattern — instead braid decorates the neckline and takes every eye — while the skirt is worked with a diamond motif and the apron wins on strong colour alone. Three rows of braid at the hem underline the traditional side.

Closes with buttons. Two side pockets in the skirt. Sleeveless, fitted cut — a dirndl should sit close to the body. Julia Trentini pairs it with a dark lace blouse with three-quarter sleeves.
