The charivari is a decorative chain worn across the front of lederhosen, attached to the belt loops or suspender buttons. It originated as a watch chain — Bavarian men would hang hunting trophies, coins, and charms from it over time, turning it into a personal record of their life and achievements.

Ancient charivaris can be worth thousands of euros and are passed down through generations. They were never bought — they were earned, gifted, or inherited.
